60 Second Style: One Direction

The boys from One Direction are serving up some serious black at the premiere of their movie “This is Us.”

Zayn Malik, Succinct Trench, $280, Nau

A minimalist coat is necessary here, and Nau’s Waterproof, breathable, lightweight, and urban-inspired coat is the perfect layering piece when you’re not yet ready to break out the wools, but need a second skin.

Harry Styles, Teslin Jacket, $345, All Saints or Knitted Blazer, $300, Reiss

These are no-nonsense options: If comfort is necessary, opt for the knit blazer. For a night out, go with the structured jacket.

Niall Horan, Colorblocked Bomber Jacket, $42.80, Forever 21

The colorblocked, faux-leather sleeve gives this classic varsity jacket a much-needed boost of style points.

Liam Payne, Level Biker Jacket, $600, All Saints

Loving biker jackets at the moment. This model has the seriousness of an all-black piece—but still helping you stand out.

Louis Tomlinson, Black Cropped Blazer, $160, Topman

A cropped blazer registers as an eight on the “Difficulty in Pulling Off Without Looking Like a Waitstaff” scale. Admittedly, I’m not a big fan of it on Louis either, but somehow it’s almost forgivable. At least he took the cropped theme and ran with it (read: His pants).

60 Second Style: Go-To Look

Yes, I know: This isn’t a very spring-summer-friendly look (it’s three layers too many!). But I like it so much that it’s practically my go-to look during those times that I want to not think about what to wear, but I’m assured that it’s going to earn me a compliment or two. (Or at least, so I hope.)

Belt, $24.95, Gap

Definitely like stocking up on these webbed belts. They’re great with shorts and bare feet or with jeans and flip-flops. Towards the fall, they go well with your wool trousers.

Charge Chino, $128, All Saints

What I like the most about these chinos is that they’re not in the regulation color—khaki—but they’re also not in a-too-outlandish hue.

Sammy Knitted Cardigan, $180, Reiss

People think I’m being a tad silly, but a cardigan is a must-pack for me when I’m headed to the beach. Yes, I’m most likely going to be in my swim suit during the morning and even the afternoon, but remember that towards the evening, the chill just might be a little too much for just a T-shirt.

The Ultimate Tan Trench Coat, $329, Indochino

You can’t go wrong with a tan trench. Have the coat measured to your specifications with Indochino’s service.

Tie, $69.50, J. Crew

A knit necktie is a nice casual option—not to mention summer-appropriate—whenever silk ties just might be a tad too dressy.

Shirt, $150, Topman

I like the print.

Show of hands: Who is ready for winter to be over and the weather to warm up ever so slightly?

One of the perks of living in New York is the fact that I get to enjoy all four seasons. But for some reason, the chill this year felt like it just dragged on and on and on. I can’t wait for the day that I can shed my thermals and go out on a 40-degree day with just a nice T and my favorite trench.

Until then, let the always-suave Zac Efron give you a preview of what is sure to be a great spring.

T-shirt, $55, Nau

Not only is this T-shirt made of organic cotton—always a good thing—it also has Tencel, a quick-drying fabric made from eucalyptus trees.

Scarf, $29.60, REI

I’m a fan of thin layers of clothing accented by a chunky scarf. It adds a nice amount of interest onto what is otherwise just an accessory.

Jacket, $470, A.P.C.

The contrasting collar picks up the shoes’ color, which unifies the look.

Jeans, $158, All Saints

A slim-fitting pair of gray denim would make a great foil to the blue jeans you’ll start pulling out of storage again once it’s warm out.

Shoes, $537, Maison Martin Margiela

Mr. Efron’s wearing one that’s slightly more beat-up than this pair—but it nevertheless has the same great swagger.

60 Second Style: Stephen Amell

60 Second Style - Stephen AmellI’ve been closely following Mr. Amell’s show on The CW, “Arrow.” He plays Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow (thus the series moniker). Touted as a reboot—or maybe a fresher take—on the billionaire, in this incarnation, the character Queen spent five years on an island after an accident left him, his father, and several other friends to the mercy of the inhabitants. He returned to Starling City (after everyone presumed him to be dead), and, donning the now-famous Robin Hood outfit, proceeded to clean the city of its filth.

Mr. Amell is photographed here on a recent trip to New York City to promote his show. I’m not a big fan of black on black on black on almost-black (his jeans and shoes), so I played around with some of the items.

V-neck sweater, $300, John Smedley

Coat, $435, All Saints
I am a definite fan of that coat.

Necklace, $24, Topman

Beanie, $45, Lacoste
I’m not a headgear kind of guy—I like to always show my hair (and styled at that), but I suppose there’s a time and place for everything.

Jeans, $79.99, Homini Emerito by Mango

Oxforts, $248, Cole Haan

Weekender Bag, $95, Everlane
You do have to be a member of Everlane in order to purchase this bag. You should—the site is phenomenal.

Such an awesome outfit!

Mr. Bomer is photographed here after a taping of Live! with Kelly and Michael.

Coat, $1850, Viktor & Rolf

Beautiful coat—the attached shawl collar adds a nice layer of polish.

Cardigan, $145, All Saints

A nice cardigan such as this would look great even during spring, once you start putting away your heavy wool coats.

Wingtips, $400, To Boot

Brown always partners so well with blue—almost so that it’s kind of the default color combination that a lot of Italians swear by.

Best of What’s New: Military

Military-inspired fashion is hardly considered a trend. Season after season, designers always find ways to incorporate the serious utility that you can find in pieces from the army, to contemporary clothing the everyman can wear. Whether it’s the reimagining of the duffel bag in luxurious calf leather, offering the trench coat in a fall-appropriate shade of wine, or a camo-printed pullover, these clothes would serve you well for years.

60 Second Style: Zac Efron

The title of the blog where I got this photograph from summed up Mr. Efron’s sense of style so succinctly: “This guys [sic] getting cooler with Age.” As much as I don’t want viewers to think that my blog is an exhaustive chronicling of just Zac Efron’s appearances, it’s undeniable how you can tell that he takes a lot of pride in his appearance. Yes, there were some hiccups before, but for the most part, he always hits a style home run, be it in the red carpet, the airport (which was where this was taken), or while he is out and about.

Scarf, $89, Suit Supply

Scarves are not bound by the seasons. You can wear them all year long, provided you make sure that the fabric suits the weather. In the warm months of May to August, linen pieces would serve you well.

Leather jacket, $395, All Saints

If scarves can be worn all 365 days of the year, leather jackets can’t—and it’s not just because you would perspire every water weight out of your body—humidity is one of the worst things you can introduce animal hides to. If the weather channel says it’s going to be nice and cold the evening you’re planning to go out, then by all means rock these badboys out. Otherwise, keep them in the closet.

T-shirt, $30, Alternative Apparel

A plain colored pocket tee is the best tag team duo with a statement-making piece such as a leather jacket.

Jeans, $49.90, Uniqlo

I’m personally not a fan of light-wash jeans, but as I always say, there’s a time and place for everything. (Not my original quote, mind you.) And these are more sensible to wear around these months.

Desert boots, $89.90, Zara

Every shoe collection should have a desert boot. And in a neutral color such as this, you can easily pair them with jeans, trousers, even shorts when it’s really hot outside.

Sunglasses, $575, Louis Vuitton

While I don’t consider these sunglasses tacky, I would say they’re the default exclamation point of an outfit, despite their small size in relation to everything else you’re wearing. Keep everything else simple and let these Louis Vuittons shine.
